Pam Muller: Pam was born in South Africa in 1958. She moved to Ireland in 1978 where she took up the art of batik. She has mastered a non-traditional approach to batik which enables her to capture the power and delicacy of the natural surroundings in which she lives. She was soon inspired by the forest walks, coastal inlets, and the lush flora, insect and bird life around and began to work with cotton, silk and linen making batik wall hangings using hot wax and dyes. She is also known for her fairy batiks as well as more abstract works. She has exhibited widely in Ireland, Germany and Australia and has become well known for her distinctive style. Batik is both a traditional craft as well as a modern freestyle art formand is versatile being used as fabric for clothing and home as well as art in its own right. Pam's batiks are presented as free wall hangings and framed pieces. |
